Biorefinery

BIO-REF aims at finding a solution for sustainable management of the society’s biomass, a solution being not only environmentally friendly but economically feasible as well. This will be achieved by employing processing of the biomass that reveals in the production of target bioproducts. The target bioproducts are liquid biofuels, bioethanol and other liquid biofuels like biobutanol, green chemicals/materials, biopharmaceuricals/ biomedicines in addition to bioenergy in form of biogas or biohydrogen. We also focus on sustainable treatment of both solid and liquid wastes from the biorefinery. Utilization of all the three components in the biomass cellulose, hemicelluloses, and lignin will be essential for economic and sustainable viability.
