Thermograhy is mainly used in the department as a tool to follow the propagation of damage during fatigues testing of composites materials. The damage cause a rise in the temperature in the local area around the damage area and can therefore be detected by an infrared camera.
The infrared camera can also be used to detect various defects by applying heat to specimen and thereafter follow the cooling pattern. |
