Professor Frederik Krebs has received Ellen and Niels Bjerrums Kemikerpris 2010 in recognition of his work within solar cells and his chemical approach to the challenges within energy technologies.
The prize was awarded at the annual meeting of the Danish Chemical Society, 4 June 2010. In connection with the award ceremony Frederik Krebs gave a lecture titled "Polymer solar cells" where he described ten years of research in the field of polymer solar cells, an effort ranging from basic research through technical research and demonstration to prototype design and industrial manufacturing. The award has been instituted by relatives to Ellen and Niels Bjerrum in memory of the Danish chemist Niels Bjerrum (1879-1958). The prize, which consists of a solid gold medal, has been awarded since 1959 to Danish chemists or to chemists with connections to Danish chemistry.
