Senior Research Specialist Kirsten Halsnæs is now head of the DTU Climate Centre at Risø

The DTU Climate Centre shall ensure scientifically based advises on major challenges related to climate change. The centre will work with Danish public authorities, commercial organisations, industry and international organisations

The Centre is established as a programme in the Systems Analysis Department at Risø DTU, and Kirsten Halsnæs has been appointed Head of Programme.

With a background as Senior Research Specialist in the UNEP Risoe Centre on Energy, Climate and Sustainable Development, Kirsten Halsnæs has been playing a leading role in international climate projects for more than 15 years.

One of Kirsten Halsnæs' most important activities has been the one as lead author in the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, IPCC, where she has assessed technical and economic analyses of greenhouse gas reductions.

Kirsten Halsnæs has played an active role in the Danish climate debate in terms of how economic and technical analyses can contribute to climate policy decision-making. Also, she is actively involved in interdisciplinary discussions on how society, industry and the energy sector can lead the way by taking economically attractive initiatives.
