The opinion-research institute Universum presented their yearly awards as conclusion to the image analysis conducted among students in engineering and economy. Risø came in third best. Last year we were number eight and got the prize as highest flyer. This year we received the prize as third most attractive company among engineering and technical students. More than 100 companies are represented in the category of engineering students. Many big Danish companies are on the list of companies. Novo Nordisk is on the first place among engineering students and on the second place is Novozymes. On the fourth place is Bang og Olufsen and on the fifth place is COWI. The result is based on 3865 engineering students in Denmark. The investigation period is from January to April 2007.
Anne Junker from HRS received the prize on behalf of Risø. She considers the most important condition for a good image to be personal contact. ”Young people get jobs even before they graduate, so we have to catch hold of them while they are studying – before they get their certificate. We try to make Risø known as a workplace using job fairs, open house arrangements, stories about Risø in various career catalogues and especially summer jobs” she says.
”All this attracts the students, and when they meet our scientists and PhD students they usually have a positive experience. They tell others about it and in this way Risø gets a good image.”
So she is very pleased with the prize which, according to her, is based on a real estimate rather than on a good image in general. “The great commitment the scientists show by prioritizing the education of students and offer summer jobs give the students an actual impression of Risø”.
The result confirms the image analysis carried out by ”Ingeniøren”, at the beginning of May 2007, where Risø came in fourteenth instead of nineteenth among the students.
