International energy conference at Risø, DTU: How do we stabilize the CO2 concentration on a low level?

We are facing a big challenge to provide sufficient energy to meet the needs of the world, especially when it comes to the growing needs in the developing countries. We have to find new energy solutions which allow economic growth and increase the security of supply. The demands for sustainability and reductions of the CO2 emission are growing.
Risø international energy conference 2007 takes up the challenge focusing on new energy solutions that can stabilize the CO2 concentration of the atmosphere within the next 50 years.

The conference includes almost 50 contributions from the whole world and also one from Justin R. Swift. He is a Deputy Assistant Secretary in the American Ministry of Energy, and will speak about USA’s research into and development of coal technologies that do not send out CO2 into the atmosphere, the so-called Clean Coal Technologies. Justin R. Swift is responsible for the international collaborations of the ministry in this field and also has a thorough knowledge of the various programmes and projects of the ministry both in USA and internationally.
Dr. Bert Metz from Holland will present the conclusions from IPCC’s fourth climate report, which is to be published in the beginning of May. Bert Metz is the chairman of the climate report working group III.

The conference is in English and takes place at Risø on 22 – 24 May 2007.
